Amin’s pet store in Maadi has definitely become a place to avoid for me. I’ve only been twice, but I’ve really been disappointed this last time.
To start with, Ahmed, apparently the main employee, is not very respectful of his female customers. He is altogether too familiar and flirtatious. I am going there to buy stuff for my dogs, not to hear him compliment me and try to learn my life story. He doesn’t have any boundaries and he doesn’t see how inappropriate he is. There is a big difference between small talk and what he was trying to do and I didn’t like it.
The second disappointment there is the quality of their products. My dogs wouldn’t touch the food that I bought there. I also purchased a dog bowl there. It lasted only one week! When I bought it Ahmed went on and on and on about the quality of this bowl, how it was imported and worth the price and all that nonsense. I told him it’s plastic and imported from China – that’s like being imported from Shobra – not impressive.
Nonetheless, I needed a bowl, so I bought it. When it shattered after one week I called to complain. His general response was that it was plastic and what did I expect? He even asked what I used it for! I told him for my dogs. It’s a dog bowl. I put food in it and gave it to the dogs. Apparently I should not have done that. I told him that I wanted my money back and he said he couldn’t do that. He could only give me a discount on another bowl.
Overall, there is nothing at this store that you could not find for a better price at Alpha Market. The people at Alpha Market won’t try to pick you up either. Amin’s pet store is simply not worth the hassle and bad service.
