Today, my husband and I treated ourselves to a nice lunch out at The Mad Chef. It didn’t hurt that we had a $10 certificate from restaurant.com. Regrettably, I forgot my camera. This restaurant was really something special.
To start with, the restaurant is beautifully decorated. You can see pictures of some of their entrees along the walls and there is a lot of retro décor. It will be nice to go back when the weather is a bit nicer as they have two outdoor seating areas. We were the only people in the place and we chose a table by the window.
I had just water to drink, but my husband had their iced tea. They make and bottle their own iced tea and other drinks. After getting our drinks, the waitress brought out a bread bowl. It had a blueberry muffin, a couple of slices of bread, and butter. The muffin seemed a bit out of place but was moist and delicious.
My husband ordered the Mad Burger. It was a basic burger with tomatoes, lettuce, and onions, but it was really juicy. It also came with two onion rings and a huge basket of fries. The fries were so crispy and I stole quite a few.
I ordered the Tofu Buffalo Wings. They had a crispy outside and silky tofu inside. The sauce was a slightly spicy BBQ sauce. It also came with a blue cheese sauce on the side. The sauce was light and not at all overwhelming. It really helped to cut the spiciness of the BBQ sauce. The serving size was also just right.
All in all, we both enjoyed our lunch here. The service was attentive, but not overwhelming. The waitress told a little about the owner and his experience. She also said that the specials on weekends really show the chef’s talent.
