Heaven Sent by Leigh Grayson

I read this book by accident.  I wasn’t looking for it, but it found me.  I saw someone mention it on Facebook.  It’s free if you have Amazon Prime.  I don’t, but I got the beginning for free and then was so hooked I had to buy the whole thing.  I finished it in one day because I couldn’t put it down.

The book follows Angela Talbot through her death.  She was a personal assistant at a busy company when she was abducted and then murdered on her way home.  The book follows her journey to the afterlife where she is tasked with solving her own murder.  She follows her godfather, Jasper Hockstetter, a homicide detective as he investigates.  Soon, she has a list of suspects that includes her brother, boyfriend, co-worker, and a homeless man who hangs around her old company.  As if that’s not enough, she also has to watch out for two Hellions, Alec and Rufus who also have it out for her.

I could really identify with Angela.  Since being diagnosed with cancer, I have been thinking about my future a lot and of course death.  When Angela broke down and cried over the things she would never get to do like get married, be pregnant, and buy a house, it really got to me.  I loved Grayson’s version of the afterlife.  This was the perfect book for me to read at this point in my life.

The premise of the book was so interesting that I wish I thought of it.  I want to learn more about the supporting characters in the book, like John, the angel that tells Angela she’s dead, and Duke, the dog who keeps her company.  It also opened my eyes to all the great books I could read on the Kindle.
